We believe finding the right skin care shouldn’t be as hard as solving a Rubik’s cube. Here are our thoughts on what makes a totally awesome skin care routine for ’80s girls. Most women don’t want or need all of these steps, but for the steps you choose, this would be the order we’d recommend, plus a few tips for selecting products. SeeMe Beauty doesn’t currently offer all of these products, but we will add more products to our lineup soon.
Step 1: Makeup Remover — Removing makeup before cleansing is critical. A makeup removing wet cloth or a cleansing oil will not only remove makeup but will also clear away the day’s dirt and pollution. Be gentle — particularly around the eyes where skin is very delicate.
Step 2: Cleanse — Clean skin is happy skin! Be sure to use a cleanser every night before going to bed. Over-cleansing can strip skin, so be sure to use products that are not harsh on skin. For many women, cleansing at night is enough, and twice daily cleansing can be too much for sensitive or dry skin.
Step 3: Eye Cream — It’s all about the eyes! Bette Davis eyes, eye of the tiger, for your eyes only, private eyes, lost in your eyes — yes, we’re all about the eyes in the ’80s … so take good care of yours today! We recommend using eye cream morning and night and maybe a refresher midday. Pat gently around eyes with your ring finger at the eye corner as well as the upper and lower eyelids.
Step 4: Serum — Provides light, fast-absorbing delivery of active ingredients and hydration. For most brands, the serums provide a higher concentration of active ingredients. Serums can be used alone or in combination with a moisturizer. Dab serum onto skin and press in gently. Always use a serum before a moisturizer when you plan to use both. We love the SeeMe Smooth Out Recovery serum alone for hot days and in combination with the SeeMe Call Me Hydra-Cream for colder, drier months or for overnight. Special tip for you ’80s girls: Remember to press remaining serum onto hands — they need a little love too!
Step 5: Cream or Moisturizer — A daily moisturizer is important for all skin types to keep skin hydrated and healthy. Apply once or twice daily using gentle patting motions. We recommend SeeMe Beauty Call Me Hydra-Cream for face, neck and chest. Why should your face get all the attention?
Step 6: SPF!! — In order to ensure proper protection from the sun, always apply SPF last. This final layer helps ensure skin is properly protected from the sun’s harsh rays. SPF can come in the form of a sunscreen, a moisturizer or from your foundation. Please protect the skin that protects you, sweet child o’ mine!
Special treatments — Masks, spot treatments and other special occasion products can be a delightful part of your skin care routine and help provide better long-term results. Masks can be a relaxing way to give skin a concentrated boost of skin conditioning ingredients or to help deeply clean and exfoliate, depending on the type of mask. We recommend putting on a mask, opening a bottle of your favorite vino and cranking up your favorite ’80s tunes for a 20-minute throwback celebration, let’s dance.
