Many of us are spending more time at home these days. Why not take a little time to treat your skin to a DIY facial? Facial scrubs can exfoliate your skin revealing smoother, brighter skin afterwards. Plus, it’s a nice treat for yourself during a stressful day. It’s easy, fun, and it works! Here’s the SeeMe secret facial scrub recipe (from one of our favorite skin care scientists!):
What You Need to Make a Homemade Facial Scrub:
- 1/4 cup of Coconut Oil (or Almond or Olive Oil *but don’t break out the good expensive stuff) depending on how thick you want it to be.
- 1/4 cup of Brown Sugar
- (Optional) A small sprig of finely chopped Rosemary (no stems please, leaves only) for a nice scent.
- (Optional) 1 drop of your favorite essential oil.
To Make: Mix to blend the Coconut Oil in a small bowl. Slowly add the Brown sugar until you get the consistency you like. It might take less than 1/4 cup, depending on your preference. Mix in a little Rosemary as desired. If you don’t have Rosemary, you can drop in a drop of your favorite essential oil if you like.
To Use: Gently (the sugar can be scratchy) spread evenly over your face using your fingers, avoiding your eye area. Allow to sit for a few minutes as you finish up your pampering routine, sip a glass of wine, read a book, meditate or do whatever makes you happy. Rinse thoroughly at the sink, or even better in a hot shower.
Bonus tip: Try this exfoliating scrub on your feet, heels or elbows for extra exfoliation wherever you need it.
To Store: We don’t recommend storing this homemade facial scrub for more than a week. Even though there’s no water in it, there are no preservatives either. Shouldn’t matter- we think you will use it all in a week anyway :)
Mix it up: You can swap out the Brown Sugar for Coarse Sea Salt, Ground Coffee, or Ground Almonds or Nuts depending on what you would like the experience to be. Have some fun with it (but always keep in mind allergies).
Stay you and stay healthy SeeME friends.
