Five skincare myths you probably still believe… but shouldn't.

At some point, we all turn to Dr. Google for health information. But for all the good, research-backed resources you can find on the internet, there’s also a ton of conflicting, not-so-scientific stuff out there. So how do you tell fact from fiction? We’ve got you covered. Here, we clear up five common skin care myths.
Skincare Myth #1: The higher the SPF, the better the sun protection.
The Truth: While SPF30 has been shown to block out roughly 97 percent of all UVB radiation, providing a greater benefit than sunscreens with less coverage, research has shown that beyond SPF30, the benefits are minimal. (SPF50, for instance, blocks out 98 percent of UVB, which is only a one percent difference.) What matters more? Making sure you reapply sunscreen regularly and seek shade when necessary.
SkincareMyth #2: People with oily skin don’t need to moisturize.
The Truth: You do! After washing your face, you need to replenish the moisture lost during the face cleansing process. When your skin is dehydrated, your body produces even more oil as a way to maintain moisture. Opt for an oil-free moisturizer to help reduce shine.
Skincare Myth #3: You don’t need a night cream.
The Truth: Well, yes, you do need a night cream. Why? During the day, you’ll want to focus on protecting the skin (hello, sunscreen again!) and using lighter skin products that are easy to layer under makeup.
