We can all be easily irritated at times (hello, life!), but if it’s your skin that’s getting red and inflamed, there’s help.
You may not think of yourself as the overly sensitive type—but your skin may tell a different story. When we enter perimenopause (usually around our mid-forties), skin starts to become thinner and more reactive. So that’s a bummer. But while you may need to treat your complexion with TLC, that doesn’t mean you have to abandon the super-charged ingredients that will help your outside match the way you feel inside (read: vital and radiant).
For starters, toss any products in your current routine containing known irritants, such as parabens, sulfates, and artificial fragrances. That’s a no-brainer. (The good news: SeeMe Beauty products contain none of these additives.)
Next, look for ingredients that do double-duty as proven skin-soothers. Beyond being the ultimate hydrator—visibly plumping fine lines and wrinkles—hyaluronic acid (in SeeMe Smooth Out Recovery Serum, for example) is incredibly gentle (and tops most derms’ must-have lists).
It Takes Three
Another boon for delicate complexions is artichoke leaf extract. A study published in the journal Molecules found that it has anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce redness and sensitivity. And our own research has shown artichoke leaf extract performs as well as some cosmetic retinols (the gold-standard in stimulating collagen and fortifying the skin), but without retinol’s drawbacks (namely, producing redness and flaking).
High up on the terrific anti-inflammatory list is niacinamide (also known as vitamin B3). This antioxidant is universally loved for its ability to calm angry skin. Finally, rich in essential fatty acids, avocado oil saturates skin with comforting moisture. And hooray, you don’t have to look far to find these wonder workers. All three are essential ingredients in the SeeMe Complex™, featured in every SeeMe product. Because even those of us who have to handle our complexions with kid gloves shouldn’t have to compromise when it comes to having radiant skin.
